Challenging to watch because it's emotionally heavy, there are many bright flashes and jerky camera movements, and also because it's in Japanese, but this film still commanded my attention the whole way through. There was a very good balance on subtlety. Many of the things I didn't quite get at first became more clear later in the movie, although I'd probably need a rewatch to fully get all the pieces.

Little Darlings 1980
This manages to be both funny and heartfelt, while avoiding feeling exploitative. Didn't realize until the credits that Cynthia Nixon is one of the girls in the main group at camp.

The Rare Blue Apes of Cannibal Isle 1972
This really is something special and unique. It has so much going on, from the amazingly charming costumes, to the frequent changes of scenery, to the surprisingly decent songs. A great movie to show to kids if you own it digitally, but unfortunately the physical release comes on a disc alongside Violated! and guess which one is shown on the movie selection menu.

Violent Blood Bath 1974
Once again I prefer the original title (Pena de muerte, lit. "penalty of death") and think it fits the movie better.
This a good, suspenseful thriller, without much on-screen violence or gore. It has some intriguing ideas, but feels like could use just a little more going on. There's a lull in the 2nd half of the movie after you figure out what's going on and are waiting for another twist which doesn't really show up, although it picks up again at the end.
