Would you take my picture if i got shot?
    What do you think?

Civil War is a film that comes with a ton of real world baggage. With looming Canadian and American elections, multiple heavily publicized ongoing wars, and a political landscape that is ever divided; the title and trailer for Alex Garland's new film evokes feelings associated with the current political climate. With the recent outbursts of political unrest in North America, Civil War's premise asks what would a…

A cozy little movie about a guy starting a band to impress a girl. The concept and story beats are a familiar one, but executed very well. The characters are likeable and the songs are all bangers. I was smiling the whole way through. Shout out to the song "Riddle of the Model". I caught myself humming the song multiple times after the viewing which is always a good sign. It feels wrong to pick apart such a good intentioned…

    Nosferatu

    ★★★★

Dark, brooding, and stylistic; from the first frame of Nosferatu you can see the care, effort, and painstaking attention to detail that Robert Eggers and his crew have put into reviving the horror classic. This is a deep cut reference, but the world expresses the themes of gothic horror so well that it feels as if Meggie from the Inkheart (2003-2007) series "read" you into a Bram Stoker novel.

The color grading, cinematography, and set design are this beautiful trifecta…

I've dreamt of that for years.
    Dying?
    Running.

What a beautiful film. Another amazing suggestion by my sister (@thelazysusan). I hesitate to call Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Portrait) a tragedy, as while it can be quite sad at times, I feel like summing up Marianne and Heloise's time together with single word does a disservice to their relationship. Bold, melancholic, and magnetic; Portrait tells the story of two star crossed woman who fall in love with one another…

    Mulholland Drive

    ★★★★½

This was my first foray into the mind of David Lynch, as I have never seen any of his work before. I know he made Twin Peaks, though I am not sure what it is about. I also know from friends and pop culture that his works are surreal and trippy. Mulholland Drive has been recommended to me by multiple people throughout the years, but for some reason I have only just got around to watching it. Luckily I have…
