TLDR: Direction, cinematography, performances were superb, but I probably missed a lot bc I am not well-learned on Catholicism/art

As a non-Catholic, I’m sure there was a lot of imagery, symbolism, and religious references that I don’t understand- that went straight over my head, but it felt like great use of allusion - it didn’t take away from the film that I missed the references, but I’m sure I would’ve appreciated a lot more of these details had I been…

The tone (visual and performance) of this were top tier and Nic Cage’s range is second to none.

Dope opening and a couple of really really cool moments throughout that blew me away. Also I love a flashlight scene!

Oddly though it did feel a little empty - maybe that’s just the brooding that a psych thriller needs, idk just felt like there was something missing. Pretty solid payoff though!

Excited for a second watch somewhere down the line.

    Edit:
It has been 2 days since I watched. I haven’t stopped thinking about it. Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha is SO SICK! Put him up there in the sci-fi villain HOF.

Honestly one of the most spectacular theater experiences I’ve ever had, right there w the OG Avatar

Also the shots and production design are absolutely ridiculous

Can’t wait to watch again this week (probably twice)
