Being kinda lost but being okay with it, searching for home and not knowing quite what that looks like. Art style unbelievably gorgeous, animal movements clearly so meticulously conveyed, bowing down to the animators for real, special shout out to the sketch lines, landscapes and watercolour shadows. Voice acting is pretty great as well. Bonus points for being apparently the deepest film my younger sibling had ever seen, and letting them register metaphor in film for the first time. Glad…
Visually clever, liked the box turning thing, costume, colour, and the Rousseau-like art style in places. Narration style a bit dense sometimes, but so it goes with short story adaptations. Just enjoyable to see actually creative filmmaking. Dev Patel is great also.
So much to say, so little that needs to be said. I have rewatched it a few times in the past couple of weeks. I could write essays on this movie, but for now suffice to say it is visually and musically beautiful, heartfelt, funny, and a comfort in an emotional and uncertain time of life. Love.
What a great time would see again. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt have great chemistry also.
