The Watermelon Woman 1996
Loved the suspension of not knowing the whole time to what extent this was an actual documentary or work of autofiction. Could've fooled me! The archivist at C.L.I.T was brilliant comedy. Also loved the Paglia interview. This film felt effortlessly stylish.

Bram Stoker's Dracula 1992
Fantastical mix of the kitsch and arty, not caring to explain itself. Fantastic dissonance between Keanu Reeves' laughable British accent face to face with esteemed British actors doing foreign accents. Dracula's nouveau riche red robes and Homogenic Asian Bjork hair.

Doctor Zhivago 1965
The most moving part of this movie was people in transit, packed together on buses and trains and walking across vast snow deserts, people so simply together, on long journeys, with such capacity to wait or with no choice but to wait, or to take flight, exposed to the great intemperies of history.
