  Average effort. Some okay fight choreography and a timely plot about a monstrous president but otherwise not up to par. The MCU might still get its revival, but not today.
  Also according to my husband the opposite of Liv Tyler is Di Plumber and this movie should have been called Captain America: Spring Sailor.

  I am always instantly suspicious of movies in 4:3 aspect ratio and I stand by that  here. This is another film about social class that doesn’t seem to know what it actually wants to say about it.

  It’s running time might be as long as it’s title by by gosh what a thrill. Couldn’t help but see the dead reckoning concept as a metaphor for algorithmic streaming as a threat on cinema—and society.  Despite this being Part 1, it has closure: unlike other recent releases that are labeled as a Part 1, this one understands the balance between establishing a sense of conclusion while maintaining epic scope. It doesn’t just lazily end wherever it wants and slaps on a ‘to be continued’ title card without meaningful sense of closure. This is yet another example of Tom Cruise as franchise star.
