Stuck me as slightly odd that for an obviously girl-power against the patriarchy movie, it kind of also seems to be trying to avoid having actual despicable male characters in it, with the main villain[s] being female. Trying to give impart their feminist message without alienating the mysoginist snowflake demo?

Totally captivated by this excellent, excellent film. Even though I’m a huge franchise, sequel and reboot geek, it is a breath of fresh air to see an original (well, adapted from a novel) piece of IP get this kind of deluxe treatment and the meticulous work of a writer-director with a real personal vision. Which makes it all the more outrageous that this terrific film is apparently bombing, and getting only middling reviews.

Plugging a major hole in my pulpy popculture portfolio of movies to have under my belt, this was a lot of fun, and in excellent company.
Especially given how little awareness I really had about the specific content of the film, despite it having been in the periphery for most of my life.
Surprised how many ‘70s/‘80s film and comics luminaries names I saw in the credits.
