Loved this movie. There's so much going on and so many small details that I'm still trying to wrap my head around. One fascinating and horrifying detail was all the little bits hinting at the state of earth at the time the movie is set. When we saw the shor of the spaceship taking off and the earth in the background consisted entirely of desert, I felt a little nauseous.

Totally took me by surprise. I thought I knew what I would be in for but then it really took a turn into pretty heavy drama and a deep sense of melancholy, all the while never losing its sense of humour and managing to stick the landing on a super sweet romantic ending. One of those movies that makes you go through every emotion during their runtime. Might be an all timer to be honest.

It's crazy how much this movie came together for me at the very end. I was enjoying it throughout but only towards the end did it really hit me what they were doing with this one. In some way it feels like a super long build up to a quiet and depressing kind of gut punch ending, but painting it as just that kind of discounts how much there's going on throughout. I feel like people who call it slow…
