I really admire Sokurov's sensibility to illustrate in liminalities of distinction. Whether a person, a bird, a stick bug, a set of kanji on wood; everything you see, hear, feel is synonymously blended with other elements. Everything sings together as choir, rested in and imbued with simple, yet profound spiritual truths. He is truly a heavenly artist.

"I want to go faster, but something retains me. As if I was going to miss something."

Bereft of describing how deeply this broke me, illustrated caverns of my soul innermost and in a manner so succinct, rich, utterly ethereal. This film is not of this world.

"Wanna see a miracle? Look, it's still alive."

Still stands as one of the most memorable endings within me.

Very personal, and as I've said multiple times in other reviews, heartbreakingly familiar. Corpo Celeste is a film I'm very glad exists.

"And what does man do when he isn't killing his fellow man? He kills his fellow animal."

One of the most dazzling short films.

I think it's fascinating that someone was able to output society in this way. Rene Laloux is a fascinating film-maker, and I honestly wish this was a feature film. I don't feel that it's exactly brutal honesty, but more of an ugly, and sadly familiar truth that lies within the natural man.

The house of decapitated heads was a powerful sequence, really enjoyed this one.
