(P:5/10)(D:6/10) My least favourite Ceylan movie. I understand the metatextual thing of the film mirroring the novel, but it’s an idea with little pay off. It’s clear that Sinan is probably not a good writer so we’re just following a movie with the same aimlessness of his novel. It didn’t earn its length with a grand arc, it was just unfocused. The cinematography was, as is typical of Ceylan, stunning.

The Return of the Pink Panther 1975
(P:4/10)(D:2/10) Clouseu is a great side character but you can’t build a plot around him. He works in the first film because he’s not driving the plot, he’s just an instrument for comedy, but here he has to also move the plot forward, which he can’t do by nature of his gimmick. Nothing else works as well, but I may have to go visit my girlfriend in the hospital so no time to write it all out.

Three Colours: White 1994
(P:1/10)(D:2/10) FUCK THIS MOVIE. Promotes a shitty ass moral of “Not reciprocating someone’s love is a terrible crime.” No, that’s not how consent works, fuck off dickhead.

The Ipcress File 1965
(P:8/10)(D:7.8/10) Dreading the amount of thirst I’ll see for Michael Caine in glasses in the reviews.
Very solid, and extra points for being groundbreaking in having the first malewife protagonist in film.
Some fascinating and experimental shots, impressive for today, let alone 1965.
