While I didn’t quite relate to the time this was set in, I did relate to the age. Being a teenager was hard, and so much of what the main character felt resonated with how I felt transitioning to high school. And maybe to some degree I still see a lot of myself in him. Almost made me cry on the plane.

This was phenomenal. Moving, well done, well shot. I loved the use of the score. It was only present at specific moments, and I enjoyed the intentionality of the music. I really loved the performances, and I was blown away by the fact that the cast was almost entirely playing themselves. Coleman Domingo was amazing as well as Clarence Maclin. I genuinely believe Clarence Maclin gave one of the best performances of the past year.

    HOLY BALLS!

A majority of my favorite movies of all time are directed by Denis Villeneuve, and Dune part 2 can be added to that list now. I’m honestly still in shock of how amazing that was. I loved every minute of it, the performances were fantastic and engaging, the cinematography was insane. The movie was a visual and auditory feast. I could ramble on about everything and how great it was. This was epic.

While I understand the criticism of the movie, I don’t agree with all of it, as I found the movie to still be engaging and immersing. The performances were really good and this movie is genuinely a spectacle, every scene has crazy good composition and many shots were visually breathtaking, which is ironic when that is what the main characters are searching for. Either way I think this movie is pretty good and definitely worth the watch, just so you can decide for yourself whether the apolitical approach of the film still pulls off its delivery.
