  this felt a lot like asteroid city as in the director was very indulgent in their style and just adding little bits of everything that they like into the film

  i know miyazaki has a lot of "tropes" that he likes to put into his movies but this sort of felt like a culmination of the stuff that he's made before, and it's clearly made for himself rather than an audience (which makes sense as this film was barely advertised…
