  i tried so hard to watch this movie as it is and not as the adaptation of my all time favorite childhood book, but i constantly felt disappointed for the lacking of certain images engraved on my mind and little details i was obsessed with when i was little. my understanding of fiction was mainly shaped by this book, so much that i still find traces of it in my tone and in my style of storytelling. i really wanted to see the same buildup, hence expected to feel the same curiosity and excitement. that's not on the movie though
