  This is a nearly perfect movie for me. Overcoming adversity. Baseball. Being a father of a daughter. When this film was first announced way back a million years ago, I had already read the book. I laughed at the idea of making it into a film. "Unfilmable". It turns out, they made a remarkable project out of it. Not exactly what you'd expect, but perfectly fitting for the medium. Can't think of 5 seconds of this that should be cut.…

  Insanely beautiful film. Great characters, perfect casting, impeccable pacing for 3.5 hours. No idea why a guy who has been part of the studio system for 50 years can't make a movie he wants without needing a DC to fix it, but man.

  Alien & Predator series watch #1

  Tactile is the best word I can use to describe it. The entire film feels lived in and functional in a way most green screen sets don't in the current film landscape. There's an extreme beauty in the art of getting that right. Watching the water drip down and the chains dangle in the landing gear bay right before a pivotal moment feels better than the scene dynamics in 99% of modern film.
