as i’m typing this i realize i missed my train. i am thinking about this movie intensely.

Babygirl has a lot to say about pleasure, secrets, power, embarrassment, and trauma. The movie, however, doesn’t spend much time exploring those themes to the extent I wanted. But maybe that ties into the emotion of dissatisfaction that looms throughout the acts.

I wasn’t fully invested until the last bit. Is the movie supposed to feel like slight dissatisfaction until the very end? Are we playing…

I’m thrilled how this entire production had me leaning in and gasping.

Every detail is nightmarish quality. Adding this to my Christmas movie collection.

ps: it was missing the mark…somewhere? i can’t explain it fully and i’ll definitely watch again to feel it out. Leaning towards a pacing issue ?¿🐀

A strange, chaotic, and uncomfortable ride. If you can ignore some of the lacking depth in the screenplay — you’ll have a great time watching the story unfold. Skarsgård and Goth are of course phenomenal together. They make the movie.

The director, Cronenberg, mentioned during my showings talk back that the set life was actually “very wholesome” and that comfort allowed Skarsgård and Goth to fully push and pull one another for certain scene work.

Checks out, bc what the FUCK were some of those scenes.

It’s like someone entered my little brain and pulled out all my fixations. Rosamund Pike, Jacob Elordi, old literature, and 2006 radio hits.
