  Getting past the depravity this film pictures (which is not easy — it’s insanely depraved), you are able to bear witness to an incredible picture of love and pursuit. I love Manny’s character and it is acted so well. At the end of the day, I am a sucker for a Hurwitz score. Also, following the plot as vignettes rather than as a cohesive whole is in the end, more gratifying. Not surprised this didn’t get as much acclaim, because again it’s truly depraved. I will admit feeling weird watching it. But in the end, there’s a tremendous beauty here.
