  Theory time! This is a theory.

  I’ve recently noted a trend in more modern films where nearly everything, the editing, writing, dialogue, camera movement, lighting, acting, etc, is being reduced to convey the bare minimum of what it’s trying to be (in this case a horror-comedy) in order to maximize its marketability. It’s all being streamlined for consumption. Tender and sad moments are thrown at me smothered in musical cues, attempts at humor are just menial quips and absurd images…

  It’s the kind of movie you can’t believe exists because it just seems so perfect and unique. At times my jaw was open because, yes, I was horrified, but also I had just never seen anything like it before.

  If you were disappointed by Longlegs, Cuckoo is a no brainer.
