The movie is frankly boring and melodramatic, but not outright bad. Too boomer for me.
Many of the criticisms towards the movie are incredibly harsh. It's really just a personalised account of class mobility for one individual. It's not Forrest Gump level of American Dream repudiation, and it does expose failings within systems and institutions, that face you with unfeeling apathy.
