somehow i genuinely enjoyed myself during skimbleshanks's song but everything else about this film just fundamentally misunderstands everything about the original musical, from the changes that were made to the plot (or moreso the addition of one. cats the musical isn't something you watch to get invested into a story and characters, it's something you watch for the visual spectacle) to the decision to use freaky uncanny valley cgi fur/ears/tails instead of the costumes and makeup that the show is known for
