  Eggers’ Nosferatu: A Hollow Cathedral of Aestheticism 

  In finality, Eggers’ films underscore his misunderstanding of Gothic horror’s moral and aesthetic core. Where there should be sin, there is vulgarity; where there should be fear of damnation, there is the clatter of uninspired sound effects and meaningless, borderline pornographic, scenes. Rather than elevating his Nosferatu to the level of its predecessor, he drags it into the mud, leaving a film that is not Gothic horror and mere a hollow, soulless pantomime…
