Maybe it’s because I’ve been rewatching a lot of Red Dwarf lately, but the world building around this bottom-of-the-ladder expendable in the first act is so much more compelling that what follows. It’s a great commentary on having “a job that slowly kills you”, and how the common worker is nothing but a disposable piece of flesh in the eyes of capitalistic narcissists. It makes for a fantastic social commentary, which makes it slightly disappointing when the film goes down…
