Can’t express enough how much I enjoyed this movie. First off, it’s a found(?) footage film that uses better cameras and angles than most FFFs but provides the convenient in-story excuse of it being necessary to have good visuals for investigative purposes. As a Rhode Islander (from one town over from Exeter) I can confirm this is what a bunch of swamp yankee kids would do if confronted with paranormal maleficence. It’s also genuinely refreshing to see horror movie characters actually doing things like googling solutions to their issue, which lets be honest is how most of us would realistically deal with that. Really took me back to high school I had a lot of fun watching this

An otherwise pretty decent psychological thriller that is absolutely obliterated by an inexcusably unrelated, schlocky out of nowhere ending. It feels like a film school boy who thinks he’s smart watched the full movie, went “nah THIS is gonna make it gold” and shitted some bad digital edits and painfully cringey tropes onto the last three minutes. I cannot communicate enough how unforgivably stupid and bad this ending is. If you want to watch YBR, once the screen fades to white STOP WATCHING. PRETEND IT ENDS THERE. A full star was knocked off my rating for how awful that ending is.

I was pleasantly surprised by how decent this was.
