Thank god Eggers got his mojo back after Northman. Perfectly over the top period acting with a dash of Eggers' trademark levity and absurdity that the previous movie lacked. Excellent cinematography by Jarin Blaschke, both he and Eggers clearly learned from Northman and ditched the crappy gimbal shots and embraced "Spielberg" oners and good blocking. Lighting was absolutely phenomenal.

One of the greatest entries in the "do I even fucking matter?" genre of movies of which I am a massive fan. I just love everything about this movie, from Bautistas incredible opening scene, to the great performances of Sylvia Hoeks and MacKenzie Davis, to the incredible score, and the soul-crushing plot about memory and identity. Only issue with the movie is the 15 minutes of dogshit Jared Leto who was forced on Villeneuve by the studio. We all know that should have been Mads Mikkelsen.

Astronauts do not act Like That

The entirety of the two stars are for the visuals and sound. Incredibly shot by Hoyte van Hoytema, VFX is among the best I've ever seen, and Hans was cookin, but that's where the compliments end. This is one of my least favorite movies ever made. Flat out wrong science (but marketed as accurate), ChatGPT level dialogue, melodramatic theater school level delivery, and one of the most eye rolling cop out endings I've ever…

Favorite movie of all time. It was my favorite movie at 13 and it's my favorite movie 25 years later. The greatest story, greatest journey, greatest characters and the greatest redemption I've ever seen on screen. For me, all historical epics are viewed in relation to Gladiator.
