    A not-very-subtle allegory regarding the war that, by 1938, was quite obviously coming at the Soviets.

    I think it's a credit to Eisenstein and Prokofiev that I've rated it as well as I have. As I said, the film itself is not at all subtle, and there are no subplots with any substance. It's very much "Germans are coming! *battle* We beat the Germans!"

    ...in which the daughter of a real estate mogul/venture capitalist and the Speaker of the House explores income inequality and the working poor.

    The kids were amazing and I hope they're doing as well as possible. I don't have any doubt the director meant well, but it's a tough pill to swallow coming from someone whose mother could have made substantive changes for these people's lives* and didn't.

    * - they had the presidency, House, and Senate at the time.
