It's a compilation of archival footage, but my god what an amazing collection and curation of this footage to create a story. This might be the greatest compilation documentary I have seen.
It is truly striking how the police are still being militarized against peaceful protests today, and makes this movie incredibly relevant.
A really insightful and moving link into the life of trans activists, especially Pia, in Argentina. I really loved learning about these women, and the sassy way they talked was hilarious.
Throughout this documentary you see how the director's family responds to his terminal illness. This movie is a heartfelt memento for the director to leave behind when he's gone. The main thread of the film is his relationship with his father, and how his father reacts to the situation. This works well because his father is a funny, empathetic, and interesting person. Might be hard to watch if you're in a similar situation, but I would recommend it.
Starkid continues its production of Horror-Musicals with Nerdy Prudes Must Die. If you've followed Starkid you should know what to expect, a charming, silly, production with over the top characters and snappy dialogue. I would say this is on about the same level of The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, and Black Friday. It's a fun time, not all of the songs hit for me but you'll probably enjoy a couple, and characters that'll make you laugh. The biggest knocks…
