Film number 1200! Was pretty surprised by this, normally Woody Allen is very hit and miss for me but this was a wonderful ode to silent comedies and also had some fun references to things such as The Seventh Seal. A fun comedy overall.

An interesting film. I think it is at it's best when it uses a documentray style approach, as the authenticity of the people themselves adds to the central idea and concern of the film, how someone like Hitler can easily rise to prominance now due to people's various discontent in the current day. It also is interesting that while people never fully believe he is serious, he's still able to communicate his mantra regardless. Not all the scripted scenes work (the Downfall parody felt very clunky) but I think the central commentary is what works the best and feels very relevant now.

A very eerie and unsettling film, in part due to a great Nick Cage performance and also due to the sound mixing and editing which made everything feel out of place and irregular. There was a cool scene where the entire camera was flipped upside down which really added to the unease.

Ending was convoluted though and didn't feel like a satisfying conclusion for an otherwise interesting mystery.

Watching this with friends was great because one of them genuinely broke down laughing for 20 minutes, probably around the time the looney tunes skits started to happen.
