  I have a soft spot for horror films that are based around obsolete tech… Ringu, Videodrone, Lawnmower Man…etc.

  And Brainscan fits nicely in with a demon possessed CD-ROM game.

  This movie was clearly filmed just as the 80’s took its final breath and right as Kurt Cobain was ruining pop culture for a tick.

  And it’s kind of amazing...

  You have a teenage protagonist in blue jeans, flannel shirts, and sporting a Tony Hawk haircut who is best friends with…

  Proof that getting a movie distributed is 90% just renting nice gear and filming anything.

  Considering this was marketed as this “unique” approach to the slasher film, it’s holistically unoriginal and does nothing new at all with the genre. Unfortunately, its attempts at being different are just bland, slow and seemingly never ending shots of basic action that seem to only exist to stretch the movie out into a 90 minute runtime. Which makes the movie feel like it’s 3 hours…
