  I didn't know this recording existed until a month and a half ago and in the time since I've watched it three times and it's been constantly on my mind in between.
  One of Sondheim's very best by a wide margin. A towering achievement of a show.

Pretty much every musical number has some really spellbinding moments, but pretty much all of them go on too long and are cut up by too many false starts; part of that is a feature of the original show, while a lot of it feels like padding.
