Echos my feelings about Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth in the sense of being an impeccably made period horror/drama with fantastic source material, excellent elevation of key themes and a well rounded ensemble to boot. Willem Dafoe was very pivotal in giving it that much needed energy boost in the middle and final section. Fantastic actor.

Haha this film is all over the place. Some of the opening b/w shots of the ocean and the cliff landscapes were phenomenal. And in general many of the ocean shots wowed me. The comedic chops of the film are definitely better than the serious tones.
But jeez, Luc Besson’s obsession with the ocean and dolphins clearly affected his ability to craft a coherent story. Very little character…
