  It’s not for me, but I thought it was a well done modern take that remained faithful to the original with just a touch of Eggers’ more disturbing influence. I loved the use of shadows in the film, echoing the original, what felt like a very practical effect used perfectly.   I liked it - I did fall victim to the films well executed pandering to my age demographic, but also, like that’s the whole point of the movie, so why be a bitch about it? This romp is a katamari damacy of teen flick homages. Im not entirely sure about the finer beats of the plot, there are a couple twists that felt rushed and incongruous with the rest of the film, but the friendship story at its core remains in tact and you know I’m a sucker for that!!
