  A Talking Pony!?! 2013

  At least in A TALKING CAT!?! DeCoteau and company made the effort to animate a little triangle mouth to move when the cat speaks. This movie doesn’t even try that much. It has a bait and switch title, where you finally see the pony and it isn’t a pony. It’s a sad, old looking horse. Then we are shown dozens and dozens of repeated nature establishing shots, along with the exact same horse riding sequence, edited the exact same way…

  Eh. I foresee the A24 crowd going wild for this. But this one left me cold. I never quite connected to the film emotionally, despite it trying really hard to make me feel the emotion. It wasn’t a bad movie. It just never quite clicked with me.
