The Crying Game 1992
It’s entirely coincidental that the last three movies I’ve watched (Conclave, M. Butterfly, and this) all essentially have the same twist. Nevertheless I think they’ve all done a decent job of being relatively respectful to trans identity. This movie in particular was apparently marketed as a sort of point and laugh shock piece but is actually thoroughly pro-trans (if in an antiquated way).
That said it does show that Irish people are creepy and evil. Especially the ones with bangs.

Spent $20 on this and it was mostly worth it just for the fun of sneaking beers in. Really fun to see this in a crowd who spoke Arabic and who genuinely loved the movie and characters.
