Did not realise this film was associated with Aaron Moorehead and Justin Benson until I saw Justin's face at the end.
Which explains the cerebral temporal timey wimeyness plot.Although very interesting in premise, I feel like it fell victim to having to insert a lot of expositional dialogue as a result to keep the audience informed.
Maybe it requires another rewatch to get more subtle answers but the motivation behind the Vise Grip Organisation wasn't clear.
But in fairness, the exploration of Sidney and Joseph's story was great.Translated from by -

I'm giving 3 stars purely for the technical design and visuals. So much time (40years!) and effort went into this to produce a fantastic blend of stopmotion with live action and puppetry.
In terms of the film itself, it felt more of a series of strung together 'vibes' encompassing grotesque and gruesome audio visual experiences,
rather than an explicitly cohesive story.Some elements of the sound design didn't sit well with me, and felt more annoying and dragged out instead of it's intended purpose of unsettling/ disturbing.
