remains very realistic throughout for a coming of age movie. he doesn’t get anywhere with the girl he’s in love with, he makes normal school friends not best friends or lifelong friends, everyone is self absorbed, he doesn’t even get his math grade up. and the insane amounts of sexism yeah that’s realistic for the 00s too
