Meh. Not my favorite of the series but it had its moments. Decent kills and the gore was pretty cool. Aside from that, it fell flat for me.

My Stepmother Is an Alien 1988
Pure delight from start to finish, this is an absolutely superb sci-fi comedy gem! Definitely not one to sleep on, this 80’s deep cut (which has graciously been remastered and released by the fine folks at Arrow Video) is one for the whole family to enjoy! Needless to say, I thought it was quite charming, and I laughed from start to finish! If you’re in the mood for aliens, comedy, 80’s aesthetics, Dan Aykroyd, Kim Basinger and/or Jon Lovitz, this one’s for you!

The French Dispatch 2021
Once again, Wes Anderson delivers a fast-paced romp with outstanding production design. Each frame is exquisite, while every story is just as engaging as the last. Surrounded by the beauty of twentieth century France and no-doubt inspired by the French cinema of that era, this visionary anthology is beautifully married with hilarity and poignancy. As I was a watching, it was reminiscent of classic, quick-witted comedies of the 40’s and 50’s. An absolute delight from start to finish, this film is one I’d be happy to revisit again sometime soon!

The Monster Squad 1987
Do you like The Goonies? How about Universal’s Monsters? Everything 80s? This movie celebrates all these things with some of the best practical and special fx of its time. That’s no surprising feat when Stan Winston is in the mix! Meshed with hilarity and a heartwarming story, this movie is just pure gold. Not really for kids, but not quite scary enough for adults, there’s plenty of “spooky” goodness to go around for the whole fam!
