Megalopolis 2024
All the campness of Tim Burton’s Batman, all the kookiness of Guillermo del Toro and all the chaos of Baz Lurhmann… and zero coherence. Pure nightmare fuel. But there’s something kind of refreshing about seeing something so shambolic and broken amid the sea of emotionally manipulative and clinical factory-line schlock that I’m used to atm. There were glimmers of what could have been (Voight with the crossbow was classic Coppola), and I quite liked the pledge scene and the disquieting…

His Girl Friday 1940
Enjoyable, but I might need to rewatch at half speed – or after five cups of coffee.

Abigail's Party 1977
Feel like this is one of those examples of a writer not actually achieving what they set out to achieve, but the resulting work is good in other ways. Plenty is still relevant today but the major difference is no way could Tone and Ange afford to buy a house in that street today (or at all), so I suppose Lawrence got the last laugh after all.
