Bloodbath at the House of Death 1984
Absolutely dreadful. Risible nonsense. I hope everyone involved was ashamed of themselves.
Would watch again.

The Last Hurrah 1958
John Ford does political satire. Spencer Tracy is Frank Skeffington, a seasoned politician reaching the end of his career, with one final election ahead of him.
Skeffington is - naturally - Irish and sentimental, but he’s also a little toothless, without any of the usual Fordian irascibility. The satire is weak, with Skeffington’s political opponents nothing more than caricatures. Despite the fairly thin material, Tracy is terrific, delivering a rich, deep performance. The film is about half an hour too long…
