    Kubrick’s last film might be his most perplexing and mysterious. Much like THE SHINING, this feels like a puzzle - with secret hidden meanings and "stuff to think about" around every corner. Of course, THE SHINING also works as a straight up really entertaining thriller/horror movie. EYES WIDE SHUT has suspenseful and tense moments, but not sure I'd label it "traditionally entertaining."     This is the only Mel Brooks movie I saw in theaters when it was originally released and also the one I've probably seen more than any of his others. At one point in my life I think I had about half the script memorized, so re-watching it today was a very familiar (and nostalgic) experience.
