I thought the concept was really interesting- it offered a way of exploring the story without being too lolitaesque in its execution (I don’t know how well that would be received in the 2020s)- whilst avoiding being too tame and palatable- which I think would be to misrepresent its content/the subject matter
I also think the meta-lens made room for further considerations
- not only what kind of a person would r* a child and later go on to marry…
as someone with a dead dad n an incredibly supportive step-father, I really appreciated this portrayal

I was adamant that this film wasn’t written by a man- Idk the idea that a man could have such penetrating insight- Idk it unsettled me- the realisation that your positionality (as a man) does not automatically render you incapable of understanding- your complicity is a choice as opposed to a compulsion- I suppose I already knew this- but it being conveyed in this way- Idk
