Studying film while not having seen any classics
Actually starting writing reviews
Freedom Writers is one of those classic “inspirational teacher” movies, and honestly, I really liked it. It’s emotional, powerful, and shows how writing can help people process their trauma and connect. Watching the students slowly open up was genuinely moving, and the message about empathy and understanding really stuck with me.
That being said, it does fall into that “white savior” territory—kind of like Dead Poets Society but with way more gang violence and fewer rich boys standing on desks…

I am really fucking confused. But also kind of fascinated?? The House is like if a haunted dollhouse and an existential crisis had a baby. Three stories, all weird as hell, all beautifully animated.
The first and last segments were my favorites—the first one felt like a gothic nightmare with parents slowly losing their minds, and the last one had a strangely hopeful, bittersweet vibe. The second one? Yeah, I just couldn’t get invested. Maybe I missed something deep and profound, or maybe I just don’t vibe with humanoid rats having breakdowns.
Anyway, I have no idea what I just watched, but I respect it.
