For Love of the Game 1999
This is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ film if it’s just Vin Scully calling the full 9 innings and telling us the stupid narrative part in his call of the game.
“2-0 pitch from Chapel. It’s a slider, catches the corner. 2-1… so back to Chapel in Florida. He’s there, Aloha shirt on, cotton candy skies, and wouldn’t you know it, Jane from New York shows up after all. Isn’t that something? But then his masseuse, welllll, she rubbed her the wrong way, so to speak… 2-1 fastball swung on and missed! Counts even…”

Novocaine 2025
Kinda fun for a while. Been a fan of Jack Quaid, and he and Amber Midthunder have good chemistry throughout. Also love whenever Matt Walsh pops up anywhere. This would’ve been a fantastic 85-90min hard-R comedy, but for some reason they tacked on a completely unnecessary final 25min that is both laugh-free and thrill-free. Fun final showdown/kill, but they could’ve done that during the first ending a half hour earlier, which was both sweet and makes more sense than what we get

Killers of the Flower Moon 2023
As faithful to the book as it could possibly be without being another 3hrs long, this is a monster of a true crime narrative. Gladstone is amazing. Leo is too. Great cinematography and an all-enveloping soundtrack by the late Robbie Robertson. Fun cameos. Wonderful supporting work from a lot of non-actors and super lesser-known cats. I had high hopes for obvious reasons, and because I’m such a fan of the book, but this exceeded them somehow. Pretty masterful stuff by the 80yr-old Scorsese. Please don’t slow down Marty!
