Underneath the story of the two powells is a meditation on place, on scale, on time and history, on the way a thing changes and morphs into something else that still carries vestiges of what once was, what really still is and always will be in essence but shifts in appearance, and this film is one slice—looking back to pasts mirrored and into a future forecasted. Sensitive in it’s audio editing and soundscapes captured, patient and enthralling in its video editing and cinematography.

Farewell, My Lovely 1975
Wasn’t always sure if I was laughing with it or at it, but it was very funny

Goodbye, Dragon Inn 2003
A movie theater is a city.
The long still shots ground you, not just in the theater of the film but the theater in which you sit (for this film really need be viewed in a theater). It gives you time to watch the people around you, to remember you are in a place with people and that contributes, or really creates, your movie going experience. Also it was surprisingly homoerotic and very funnyTranslated from by -
Typhoon Club 1985
If I had watched this when I was 16 I would’ve been so annoying about it
