I don’t think I’ve ever been hit harder and faster than I was in the last 20 or so minutes of this. It took a good hour to settle in with my thoughts of the film but all I know is that it’s incredible. Will be rewatching somewhere I can wail in peace.

I just want action and assassin shit. I don’t need the Nietzsche fan-boy monologues, thanks. Decent film, solid fight scene.

Beautifully shot, wonderfully acted. Engaging and simplistic, this film brings high tension and emotion to the frontlines like any good war movie should. The film takes you through the emotions and tides of war in the single shot beautifully. You hold your comrade’s hand as he dies, you hear funny stories from those in the truck, you come across a solider serenading the men before being called off to the trench. Small orders with massive consequence, the sense of duty…

    Conclave

    ★★★★

A thriller in the most gentle way, Conclave brings you to the edge of your pew with its twists and turns. Ralph Fiennes progressively losing his mind over the various snafus of the leading papal candidates is enjoyable, campy, and yet very serious. The film loses steam once it becomes slightly politically charged but also feels incredibly more Sunday morning Catholic with the political platitudes in the last 30 minutes. All in all, it’s an interesting thriller that feels as claustrophobic as the confessional at its best. By the way, did you know Cardinal Bellini stands for everything Cardinal Tedesco does not? It’s very subtle.
