A compelling, ominous and well-acted period piece about mystery, obsession and the questionable past of colonial exploration. Hunnam turns in a half-decent performance while Pattinson is exceptional as always. I found it resonant and thrilling in equal measure, and while the story is a little unfocused at times, the conclusion is satisfying and leaves you introspecting.
A masterful piece of filmmaking with some of the most authentic performances I have seen in a long time. A subtle and nuanced story which captures real-feeling moments in a father-daughter relationship, with an amazing duality between memory and film. This film is slow at times but builds gradually and then suddenly hits you.
Still stands up as the strongest entry in the Cornetto Trilogy, this film is an all time classic that you can't get bored of quoting. Playing off classic action tropes, the writing and direction, in particular Wright's use of visual comedy really reinforces how much creativity went into this one.
