Slow, deliberate, compelling. Cillian Murphy is fantastic, heartbreaking in the best possible way. The slow pacing worked really well for me, although at times could’ve done with having a little more drive to it. The cuts back to the past were interesting, and equally enjoyable as the present, but they didn’t feel overly relevant. The main storyline is great though, gives a lot for the audience to think about, with some seriously impactful moments throughout.

Incredibly well shot. Characters are alright, plots pretty good. Didn't mind it, didn’t love it.

One of the most successful uses of the revenge story I’ve ever seen. So often I feel plots have an abundance of potential but fall flat at the execution. That is really not the case with this film, particularly in the last 20 minutes. Every aspect of how they handled the vengeance archetype is perfect to me. Yep… I’m watching it again. I’m completely obsessed. Together with part two it’s my undoubted favourite film. It’s just so perfect, not a minute wasted. Introducing the world, characters, and taking us through a journey that every time creates such excitement and tension. I never thought I would love something as much as Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. But Dune is them, plus Game of Thrones multiplied by the genius of Denis Villeneuve. I can’t wait for Messiah.
