‘Midsommar’, much like ‘Hereditary’, offers premium examples of Ari Aster’s brilliance. The film cements his breakthrough success in creating vibrant, colourful masterpieces; wrought with pain and grief.

From the beautiful opening winter shots sequence to the harrowing pre-title scene I was gripped. What follows is a assault on a viewers emotions. Ari succeeds in forming a script that demonstrates deep-seated and realistic depictions of a couple held together by threads but also empowers the cast to allow for laugh…

    Death Note

    ★★★

Death note is a well-shot, decent adaptation with chilling moments and an expertly designed Ryuk.  The film is hurt by the occasionally forced acting and trying to condense 37 episodes into 1 hour 40.

Tom Hardy is an absolute boss.

This film was sleek, clever and in some parts - damn sexy.

A great imagining of the depression-era and provided for perfectly by the brilliant costumes, vehicles and weapons. It was fantastic to see Shia branching away from films like 'Eagle eye' and 'Transformers' into a film where he could truly act.

Lawless is what you are expecting when you look at the case; a brutal drama about brothers trying to make it in the bootlegging business.

A clever, fast paced action film.

To fully appreciate this film, it requires time to be set aside to intently watch in order to value the intelligent story design. Inception is a fresh clever idea that translated beautifully to film, the open ended-ness, guesswork and interpretation that is left to the viewer makes this film an incredible thought provoking piece of work from Nolan.
