I’ve heard some people say things such as “no one’s making original films anymore” and “all of the original ideas have gone.”
To this I say, watch Arrival.
On a rewatch of this one I found some issues that I hadn’t noticed before on previous watches.
There are some quite contrived parts and the romance doesn’t really work but J.K. Simmons is so watchable and the music and editing are so on point that the issues are not as noticeable.
This is probably one of the most rewatch able films out there and moves at such a pace that it’s such a smooth watch that I’ve seen it several times and never feels dull or boring.
