  Peak cinema. Tarantino before Tarantino. Every scene of this movie, for nearly 3 hours, is just perfectly constructed.

  As far as a genre picture, I don’t know if this could ever be topped. It’s both unmistakably a Western, and yet subverts the form totally into something beyond anything before it. An outsider like Leone will always see the truth of a thing most clearly, and reveal the myth for what it is.
