What an epically bizarre movie.
Michael Mann is hit or miss for me, and he manages to do what I love and dislike about him in droves here.
Is it Michael Mann the sometimes plodding writer who makes kind of boring and predictable choices about masculinity in crisis? Is it Michael Mann the technically brilliant director whose set pieces and visual style are arguably surpassed by none?

Peak cinema. Tarantino before Tarantino. Every scene of this movie, for nearly 3 hours, is just perfectly constructed.
