I'm so confused... Did they not know how this was gonna be marketed? It's like it was meant to be full of twists and turns but they're all just the premise of the movie.

Lars and the Real Girl 2007
I dunno if I'm just having a teary month but I got got again.
Gosling is solid but it's the supporting cast that really makes this film so special. The sense of community works so well because those playing the community really bring their all. Every shot of Margot at the end broke my heart a little.
Delightful aesthetic, super heartwarming, definitely not the cringe-humour comedy I'd been assuming this film was.

The most delightfully strange ride I've been on in a while.
Every single department crushed every goddamn element. It looks beautiful, it sounds beautiful. I want to see so many more films in this style but between the prangy shots, bananas performance choices and the almost Roald Dahl/Eric Idle take on the locations, I doubt many other stories could pull it off.

This movie is overrated.
I like the brief horror sequences and the synth score but that's about it.
There is so much dead space between the horror (and not in an atmospheric or character building way). You could take two of the core cast out of the film and nothing would change. And the biggest character decision/narrative beat is completely skimmed over... Also wtf was their plan at the end? They say it didn't work but I fully don't get what it was in the first place.
