Wow, this guy was a talent, at both singing and musical arrangement. This documentary is a celebration of his work, without skimming over the struggles he had. Whether that be questions about his sexuality, and his, and the public's, obsession with his weight. Another legend taken all too soon.
Horror/Comedy is a tough thing to do as by definition the film needs to be funny and scary. Unfortunately, this is neither. Parker Posey does her best to bring the laughs, and Brian Cox and Edie Falco seem to be enjoying themselves, but it just doesn't work. It was just all a bit daft.
This was terrific. A tense, pulsating drama which, due to the intimacy and claustrophobia of the news room, felt like a play. Despite that, it was very cinematic, with great performances by Sarsgaard, Chaplin and Magaro. A special mention must go to Leonie Benesch, who is excellent. Her suppressed anger at being forced try to distance herself (and by extension other Germans of her generation) from the sins of the previous generation was engrossing.
Oh dear. A complete waste of everyone’s time. At least the actors got paid, unlike those of us who had to watch it. Tom Hardy deserves so much better.
